We are proud to announce that Spur Local (formerly known as the Catalogue for Philanthropy) has included Community Forklift in their 2024 class of critical local nonprofits. The class consists of 137 Greater Washington area community-based organizations that work holistically to make our region more equitable, reminding us that collaboration strengthens our collective impact.
Community input drives the Spur Local nonprofit review process. In addition to the 150+ local volunteers who review nonprofit applications, Spur Local conducts a rigorous financial review and site visits of all selected organizations. The guiding principle throughout this decision-making process is to select organizations making critical local impact.
In joining the Spur Local network, Community Forklift begins a four-year partnership alongside hundreds of other small, locally focused nonprofits. This partnership includes workshops, resource and idea sharing, and organizational and professional development training that will help us further our impact and sustain our mission over the long term.
Visit Community Forklift’s Spur Local page to learn more about our partnership and all of the organizations in the 2024 class. You can also help continue our work by sharing our mission on social media or donating funds to support our programs!
Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse. We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
