RECOMMEND US TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD LISTSERV
If you’re a member of one of the DMV area’s many neighborhood listservs, you’ve probably noticed that neighborhood residents often use them to find items they’re looking for or get rid of materials they no longer need. This is the perfect opportunity to let your neighbors know about the resources and programs that Community Forklift provides! If you’d like to spread the word about our mission in your neighborhood, here’s some sample text that can get you started:
If you’re considering a remodel or just want to get rid of stuff, I wanted to make sure everyone knew about a great local organization— Community Forklift! They are a nonprofit that accepts a wide range of new, gently used, and vintage materials that can be donated to help others and keep valuable items out of the landfill. And when you visit the warehouse, get ready to browse tons of cool stuff for sale — building materials (high end cabinets at a fraction of the cost!), furniture, antiques, lighting, appliances, tools, and more. Plus, Community Forklift provides free items to families in need and other local nonprofits. It’s a win-win: help the community, support sustainability, and find a hidden gem you never expected. You can drop off your donations at their reuse warehouse, or if you have large or multiple items, they may even be able to pick them up! Visit their donation page or reach out to their Donations Team with questions at donations@communityforklift.org or (301) 985-5180.
