Reuse Inspiration: Lighting
The Community Forklift reuse community has repurposed salvaged lighting to great effect. See some of their photos for inspiration and visit our reuse warehouse to find materials for your own salvaged lighting project!
GARDEN DECOR
Check out this awesome garden chandelier created with a salvaged light fixture from Community Forklift! Now that’s what I’d call a green light. Visit the Community Forklift YouTube Channel for more garden reuse ideas. Photos by @agrant5 (Instagram)
MODERN LIGHTING
This modern light fixture from Community Forklift looks fantastic in its new home! The mix of its modern style with the vintage fireplace design is so nice and I love the drama and warmth of the wall and ceiling color. Photos by @greenrenovationgal (Instagram)
LIGHTING WITH A NEW LOOK
This plaster lamp was awesome in its heyday, but when purchased for $5 from Community Forklift the velvet panels were peeling and some earlier repairs were failing. After a couple coats of paint and a $25 shade (also from the reuse warehouse!), it’s back in business!
SALVAGED SHADES
A Forklift Fan used this salvaged schoolhouse lampshade from our reuse warehouse to great effect! Paired with a pendant light kit, the shade delivers all sorts of vintage charm in this space — much more than it would be doing if dumped in a landfill. There are all sorts of cool shade styles when shopping secondhand! Photo by @nikki.rosato (Instagram)
VINTAGE LIGHTING
Location, location, location. This salvaged chandelier with a subtle seafaring vibe from Community Forklift looks so good all lit up under a ceiling medallion! Thanks to a Forklift Fan for giving this spectacular light a spectacular new home! Photos by @elainainstagram (Instagram)
ARTISTIC INSPIRATION
Sue Decker makes gorgeous ceramics using salvaged light fixtures as molds. Check out this fruit bowl made from a 1920’s-era glass shade from Community Forklift. It’s so cool to see the design live on in another form! Photos by @fourelementspottery (Instagram)
COMBINED LIGHTING
Check out this awesome lighting project that uses salvaged fixtures from Community Forklift! The three pendant lights look great combined into one fixture with that wooden base. Thanks to a reuse fan for rescuing these materials from the landfill by upcycling them in their home! Photos by @mosiejahlie (Instagram)
STUNNING SHADOWS
This salvaged pendant light from our reuse warehouse is fantastic and the shadows it casts are even better! Thanks to Forklift Fan for shopping secondhand and conserving natural resources while saving money and supporting our reuse warehouse.
