A huge thank you to Dominion Lighting for donating 18 pallets of new-in-the-box light fixtures to Community Forklift!
Our reuse nonprofit’s work depends on the generous businesses and individuals who donate reusable materials instead of sending them to the landfill. Dominion Lighting is one of these businesses that sustains Community Forklift’s mission to reduce landfill waste and foster a healthier environment.
With showrooms in Chantilly and Arlington, Dominion Lighting carries indoor and outdoor lighting products from over 300 manufacturers, including energy-efficient options like LED fixtures. Their showroom staff provides custom design services for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring the lighting fits the specific space and style.
They also partner with local artists and arts organizations to present exhibits at their two showrooms, providing an opportunity for emerging and well-known artists to showcase their work. Past shows have been created in partnership with The Arlington Artist Alliance, Arlington Visual Art Studio Tour (AVAST), and the Fred Schnider Gallery.
By choosing to donate their showroom models and other excess materials to Community Forklift, Dominion Lighting reduces waste and conserves natural resources, while providing building materials at below market prices to those who need them. Their donation also helps support our community giving programs that provide free items to non-profits and households with limited resources.
Thank you to the team at Dominion Lighting for helping us lift up communities through reuse!
Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse. We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
