An evening of creativity, community, and gratitude for two decades of reuse

Our 20th Anniversary Salvage Soirée was a celebration and heartfelt reflection on two decades of lifting up our community through reuse. On October 16, 2025, friends, donors, partners, and neighbors gathered among twinkling lights and salvaged treasures to honor how far we’ve come together and to look ahead to all that’s possible.

Guests explored five stunning salvaged spaces designed by local creators, each reimagining the beauty of reclaimed materials in new and inspiring ways. We recognized three incredible supporters whose work embodies the spirit of reuse, support, and community connection contained in Community Forklift’ mission. It was a vivid reminder that reuse is not just about saving materials—it’s about preserving stories and strengthening community ties.

Thank you for being part of this story! Every donation, every warehouse visit, every project completed helps us continue to build a more creative and sustainable future together. Relive the night through the video we premiered at the soirée and a photo slideshow below!

Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse.  We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
