Whenever I see vintage CorningWare dishes in the housewares section at Community Forklift, I’m instantly transported to dinnertime in Ohio in the 1980’s. The vintage items at the reuse warehouse come chock full of memories — and in the case of furniture, sometimes literally!

Dresser drawers, trunks, and even old fireplace mantels sometimes bring souvenirs of their previous lives with them to the reuse warehouse. These photos of some very summery pastimes were found in a vintage trunk. Check out some bygone bathing suit fashions, incredible hats, strolls in the park, and more in the gallery below!

Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse.  We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
