Seed starting in style! A Forklift Fan created this beautiful greenhouse using salvaged windows sourced from our reuse warehouse. Thanks for giving the windows a new home and helping divert usable materials from the landfill! Photos by @johnvosmek (Instagram)

Local artist Monica Lyles uses acrylic paint, acrylic inks, and collage in her dynamic and vibrant artwork. This piece incorporates cracked glass and a serving tray from Community Forklift’s reuse warehouse and Monica exhibited it at their table at our July First Friday event. Our last First Friday is September 6 from 5-8 pm with artists and vendors, live music, food and drink for sale, and discounts on salvaged materials. Photos by @monicacreatesdaily247 (Instagram)

It’s amazing how different lighting fixtures look when installed and lit up! This three-light vanity fixture from our reuse warehouse looks right at home in its new space. I love the classic bathroom tile, too! Thanks to a Forklift Fan for shopping secondhand and supporting our reuse warehouse!

Thanks to a Forklift Fan for this inspiring reuse success story! “A few weeks ago … we started walking to school. We quickly realized a lot of families do and there isn’t a place for bikes or strollers to park. I reached out to Dave [at Cheverly Home Improvement] and he immediately offered to support the church and school with install. Then … a neighbor let me know Community Forklift had bike racks in their Half-off Earth Day Sale! Today we have a newly installed bike rack (Julian approved), lots of happy parents (and kids), and another community win. THANK YOU Cheverly Home Improvement and Community Forklift!” Photos by @lboogie_mac (Instagram)

Surplus tile from Community Forklift to the rescue! The beveled subway tile looks amazing paired with deep blue tiles purchased new. Mixing and matching tile is a great way to incorporate surplus tile from our reuse warehouse into your project, saving money and our planet at the same time!

The SoHy Co-op used free materials from Community Forklift to furnish a relaxed and inclusive outdoor Hyattsville community space next to Franklins Brewery. “The grant allowed us to bring already loved furniture to The Spot so that people could enjoy performances in comfort,” said Bronwyn King, co-founder of the SoHy Co-op. “Painting the furniture turned into a community event, which was another great way to bring folks out to The Spot.” Visit our website to learn more about The Spot and Community Forklift’s Community building Blocks program!

A Prince George’s County family of four lost everything in their home to a house fire. To help them rebuild, Community Forklift provided 13 free boxes of floor and wall tile through our Home Essentials Program, which supplies free materials to households with limited resources. Visit our website to learn how you can support our work through material and financial donations! Please help us keep usable materials like appliances, furniture, and building materials out of landfills and in the hands of people who can use them. Thank you!

Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse.  We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
